About Dr. Radu Seicean
Dr. Radu Seicean is a Senior Lecturer at the “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Cluj-Napoca, with extensive surgical experience.
Dr. Seicean graduated from the “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Cluj-Napoca, where he discovered his passion for surgery. He is a Primary General Surgeon and holds a Doctorate in Medical Sciences, with subspecialization in advanced laparoscopic surgery and obesity surgery. He is certified in general ultrasound and performs both interventional and intraoperative ultrasound techniques.

Career History
Dr. Seicean has completed more than 25 specialization courses, both national and international, as well as advanced training in France and the Netherlands. His training has included numerous complex surgeries using modern techniques and state-of-the-art technology. After returning to Romania, he successfully introduced advanced laparoscopic techniques into daily clinical practice, performing the first laparoscopic operations for colorectal cancer in Cluj. He was the first in Cluj to perform laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy for morbid obesity.
He later focused on developing bariatric surgery and organized a dedicated workshop. He has also worked to expand the indications for minimally invasive approaches in emergency surgery.
He created and published, for the first time internationally, a minimally invasive technique for managing hemorrhagic complications following liver biopsy. He has refined and implemented modern techniques in the treatment of breast cancer and superficial tumors, hernia and incisional hernia repair, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, and anorectal conditions. These efforts have ensured that patients benefit from modern, complex treatments. His scientific activity is notable.
