Measures to Prevent Waste Generation
1. Reduction at the Source
- Procurement control: We purchase only what is necessary, in the minimum quantities required.
- Hazardous chemicals (disinfectants) are ordered only when needed and in minimal quantities to prevent them from expiring.
- We use existing stock of older medications before purchasing new ones to avoid waste.
- We eliminate or replace hazardous chemicals wherever possible.
2. Waste Recycling and Reuse
We continuously collect the following types of recyclable waste:
- Paper and cardboard: placed in designated areas, in bags marked “Paper Recycling.” Cardboard boxes must be flattened before disposal.
- Plastic: PET bottles, plastic wrap, cups-deposited in containers marked “Plastic Recycling.” Before disposal, each employee removes the cap and crushes the PET bottle to maximize space.
- Metals: collected separately for recycling.
3. Separate Collection and Storage of Waste
Waste is collected and stored separately in accordance with the following rules:
- Medical hazardous waste: stored separately from non-hazardous waste.
- Pharmaceutical waste: stored separately from non-hazardous waste.
- Recyclable waste: separated from non-recyclable waste.
- Chemicals and hazardous waste: properly and clearly labeled, stored separately.
4. Management of Electrical and Electronic Equipment
- Electronic and electrical equipment that is obsolete is donated to charitable organizations or local educational institutions.
- Non-functional equipment is collected by an authorized waste collector, in accordance with applicable laws.
Employee Responsibilities
All clinic employees and contractors are required to follow the rules for the separate collection of waste:
- Separate collection is carried out individually by each employee or contractor.
- Paper and cardboard waste must be disposed of exclusively in the designated areas.
- Plastic waste must be disposed of exclusively in the containers designated for this purpose.
- Each employee is required to crush PET bottles and remove the caps before disposal.
Employee Awareness and Training:
- Clinic staff receive regular training on the management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
- The training covers procedures for the collection, storage, transport, and disposal of waste, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Waste Records
- A list has been compiled of the hazardous and non-hazardous waste generated by the facility.
- Companies specializing in transportation, disposal, and recycling are evaluated on a regular basis.
- The hazards and risks associated with improper waste disposal are assessed.
Program Monitoring and Review
The waste prevention program is reviewed annually by analyzing existing practices and adopting new ones where necessary.
Waste separation: in preparation / ongoing implementation.
Target year: 2026
