Evaluates blood flow to the kidneys and detects renal artery stenosis, a cause of hard-to-control high blood pressure. Recommended on the doctor’s indication, especially in treatment-resistant hypertension. Price: 560 lei.
How the examination is performed
You lie down comfortably while the doctor applies a special gel to the area being examined, to transmit the sound waves. Using a transducer, the images and blood flow are viewed in real time on a screen. The examination usually lasts between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the complexity of the case.
For most examinations no special preparation is needed. You should wear loose clothing and tell your doctor about any medication you take. The procedure is completely painless; you may only feel mild pressure from the transducer or the cool sensation of the gel.
